Within Australia, you are required to have a security license in order to gain employment as a security officer. The licensing process is generally a certification that you have undergone the training required through an approved RTO (Registered Training Organisation) and passed a background and national police clearance check.


It is important to look up the rules and requirements as they apply to your own state and look up information in regards to local security licensing in your area. Each state within Australia has its own licensing requirements, laws and governing practices when it comes to a security officer license.


To be licensed in Western Australia, you must have:

•    No criminal convictions that directly relate to your capacity to perform duties of security.
•    Current Cert. II in security operations
•    Current first aid certificate
•    Proof of Age and Identity (Passport, Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Deed Poll)
•    Proof or Residency / Working Visa
•    Two (2) Character References (must be signed dated & have address and contact details)
•    Four (4) Passport Photographs
•    Police clearance or documentation from your country if you have been in Australia for less
     than five (5) years
•    Full application fees 
•    A completed CF2 application in own handwriting for a license
•    Completed applications are to be lodged at:
